Built in 1929 for the Brown Brothers, Harriman & Company bank to a triangular block next to the City Bank Farmers Trust Building, the apex facing the corner of Wall and Pearl Streets.
The 35-storey building rises in a series of setbacks to the top at 123 meters with its ornamental cargoyle and oculus decor and a row of Gothic crest teeth atop the hip roof. There are coins adorning the lower building facade.

The building has been slated for a residential conversion.

Built in 1929, 63 Wall Street has been converted from the former Brown Brothers Harriman headquarters into a residential development called the Crest. The 36-story building, now home to 476 rental units, maintains its neo-classical exterior but boasts a luxurious, contemporary style throughout its interior.

Developer RBNB Wall Street Owner, LLC, an entity controlled by Nathan Berman and Yaron Bruckner, received $132,500,000 in tax-exempt Liberty Bonds from the New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to cover the costs of acquisition, renovation, and conversion of the office building. In recent months, RBNB has also acquired 67 Wall Street and 20 Exchange Place and plans to convert those buildings as well.

Monthly rents for studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments at the Crest range from $1,750 to $4,000. Tenants have been moving in since July 31, 2004, and approximately 85 percent of the apartments have been rented, according to Jack Berman of Metroloft Management, the building's management company.

Amenities at the Crest include

  • a 10,000-square-foot "Great Room" with entertainment, including billiards tables, a large-screen television, WiFi Internet access, a baby grand piano, ample seating, and a conference room;
  • a 21st-floor
     Lobby of 63 Wall Street
     terrace with sun chairs and a city view;
  • DVD rental and valet service in an impressive lobby, with a 24-hour front desk attendant, and
  • a large laundry room on the 4th floor.

In addition, the building features 12,500 square feet of retail space and 85 parking spaces.
