Loyola in Winter; picture by Mr. Agnostakis
Loyola School was founded on its present site, which is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, by the Society of Jesus in 1900.  The school has a rich tradition in educating students for the service to others.  In 1973, Loyola became a coeducational secondary school. It currently serves the Tri-State region as the only Jesuit, Independent, and coeducational high school

The School is guided by the vision of St. Ignatius Loyola and the Jesuit philosophy of education - which is to prepare its graduates who are men and women of competence, conscience and compassion.  It seeks to educate the entire person: body, mind, heart, and soul.  As an independent school, Loyola provides a challenging and comprehensive college preparatory curriculum, a variety of extracurricular activities and a competitive athletic program.  The school's student body enrollment is 210, and a teacher/student ratio of 1:12 generates a genuine feeling of family and sense of community.

The student body is diverse representing all five boroughs, suburban New Jersey, and Westchester County.  They are active and extremely involved in the life of the community and the community at large.  It is important to understand that our students learn from a committed and dynamic faculty that thrives on challenging and supporting motivated students.  Their pursuit of academic excellence, extracurricular activities and athletics are balanced and embraced by an energetic faculty and volunteers from the Parents Association.
