Hardenburgh was the architect of the Plaza
Hotel and the Dakota Apartments. Designed as a warehouse, "this corner building is among New York's most monumental commercial structures of the 1880s (Guide to New York City Landmarks)." It was built by William C. Schermerhorn, who razed his family mansion, renting the new six-story building to a manufacturer of boys' clothing. |
